Antique FRENCH mannequin head or postiche d'art made by J. Leclabart 1940's, for hairdressing, hatstand, display, vintage collector, deco.
This is a real and rare antique french curiosity called a "postiche d'art" or hairdresser's practice mannequin with real hair and glass eyes. Made in france in the 40's, it comes from the manifacture of j. Leclabart, a well-known supplier of mannequins for "coiffeurs" or hairdressers. Nowadays, they are hard to come by with steel clamp and rotating ball and screws that enable them to be positioned and sit firmly, screwed onto a chair, bench, table, shelf(see photo details). The mechanism allows the head to be turned and rotated , adjusting the inclination as desired. Height of head : 11 inches. Weight unpacked : approx 1.4 kg. Great as a unique hatstand displaying a quirky hat or another headpiece. Why not a costume jewelry tiara or a series of antique decorative haircombs. A wonderful collector's piece or unusual gift.
