Antique French Wasp Waisted Dress Makers Mannequin Most Likely by Stockman Rare Tailors Dress Form Shop Window Display Haberdashery

Welcome to the sale of this superb french mannequin. This mannequin was almost certainly made by stockman of paris and in the late 1800's dating from the reign of napoleon the third. It has a wasp waisted figure with a 24 waist.

The original fabric has been covered over with a handmade fitted bodice in a black waxed material. I'm unsure why, it could be to protect the fabric below or because the fabric was damaged. The body stands on a nicely turned tripod base.

The mannequin measures (in cm) 163 tall max and weighs 5kg. Shoulder tip to shoulder tip 42cm. In good condition commensurate with its age and use, the base has some old woodworm holes and has been repainted at some time.
