A rare beauty, this mannequin is marked with a patent date of june 8, 1909 on its articulated wooden arms. Typical of the eral it also has a wasp waist, s-curve, pouter pigeon chest shape with a partial metal cage skirt and an adjustable metal base. Metal base adjusts for height and there are swiveling metal caster wheels. The cast iron x base has "wm strauss" on one leg and "phila pa" on the opposite one.

Body is pressed wood, paper, cardboard covered with tan colored jersey fabric, which as you can see has many holes. Original label at center front says: wm. Strauss, display fixtures show forms, 416 arch st. The number'13' is stamped below this label on the fabric covering.

The arms are moveable at joints. One still has a wrist section as shown. 24 from shoulder seam near neckline straight down to bottom of cloth covered body along back side. 34.5 from shoulder seam near neckline straight down to bottom of metal skirt along back side.

14 between shoulders across top. 17 between outsides of arms at shoulders across the back. 39.5 around at bottom of cloth covered body.

43 around at bottom of metal skirt. 21 from top of bosom to bottom of cloth covered body at center front. 30.5 from top of bosom to bottom of metal skirt at center front. 18 long arm without wrist. 20.25 long arm with wrist.

Neckline opening is 7.75" between shoulders, 6" wide at top of bosom, 6.5 at center from front to back. Last photo shows patent date (upside down) pressed into one of arms. Both upper arms are stamped. As shown, the fabric covering shows much wear with holes. The paper underneath also shows wear, also as shown.

One wrist is here, one is missing. Overall in very good condition.

History of a girl's condition scale: poor - fair - good - very good - excellent. Please enlarge and examine all photos for more info on condition and description. There are two sweet kitties in my home, so although there's lots of love here, we're not pet-free. This item is made of wood, metal, paper and fabric.
