Antique Wasp Waist Mannequin Dressmakers Dummy Tabletop French
An antique table top wasp waisted female mannequin bust, most likely from the early 1900s judging by the style and shape of the form. Due to her size she is ideal for window displays, display on top of a cabinet and smaller spaces. Originally she would have had a stand, however it is no longer present, however as she still has the hole in her base and neck, she could be paired with a different mannequin stand, or one could be made for her. The bust itself is in good condition for it's age. The antique calico is fragile, and there is some damage to the fabric mainly located close to the base on the front. There is marking and staining to the fabric which has occurred over its long like. The form which the fabric is covering is still really strong and firm, and if you wished you could recover her or decoupage the body. As the mannequin does not have a makers mark on the fabric (it probably would have been on the metal screw of the base) i do not know who she is made by, however there were very few companies manufacturing high quality dummy's at this time, such manufactures included girard and stockman. She is almost certainly of parisian manufacture. She has the size mark 44 clearly on her neck. Underneath there are a few pencil markings on the wood, one of which i believe reads, printemps. This probably means she was used in the shop or dressmakers spring collection.
24 1/2 (71 cm) in total height. 24 1/2 (62 cm) at the waist. 36 (91.5 cm)at the chest. 37 (94 cm) at the hips.
