Stunning French Very Rare Antique Mannequin Corset Style 1890s Girard of Paris.

For sale is a very rare and exquisite antique french corset mannequin. This gorgeous lady dates from late 19th century 1890 and is of the much rarer style, with her exaggerated waspish waist and billowing bust she is one curvy mademoiselle, this style was for displaying the very tight waisted bustle tops. There is a silk inverted neckline which is sadly worn, but remains intact showing its former splendour.

Her original linen covering has taken on an old tea colour, and is marked & mottled and a few blemishes in some areas which shows evidence of use and age, there is some staining but after all she was a working girl and still looking good for her age (please see pic). Body is in strong card papier-mâché please see last pic. With its original wood arm disks and carved finial top, and a lovely turned wood base, this would have been in a very upmarket store/fashion house.

Made by girard of paris of stamped on the back with a 46. If needs be this could be converted easily to a table top mannequin. Please noteif you are looking for perfect then she is not the girl for you; but if you seek an original rare genuine chic mannequin, she is just simply divine.

Total height at the top of the holding stem is 60 inches (152cm) with 50 inches (127cm) when stem is down. In 34 years of antiquing/brocanting in france i have had mannequins of the full sized, some ordinary some stunning. Then others which are rarer table-top male and female, and child's.
